Congratulations to Rebecca Walker, Andy Down and Anita Solanski who successfully recredentialed with the College recently.
Rebecca Walker is a Specialist Mental Health Pharmacist at Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, and a qualified non-medical prescriber. Her contribution to the Choiceandmedication website and the use of QI methodology to support making changes were of highlighted as being of particular merit in her submission for recredentialing.
In commenting her role, she said: “We have such an important role in getting the medicines right; I find working with the multi-disciplinary team and service users to optimise medicines immensely rewarding. My current role is predominantly clinical, so I get to do my favourite part of the job most of the time.”
Andrew Down (Andy) is Deputy Chief Pharmacist at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust.
He is great contributor to the work of CMHP, in particular through his role as course leader for the Psych 1 and Psych 2 education courses.
Andy says: "I have been a member of the CMHP (and UKPPG) since I started working in mental health and I first credentialed as a full member in 2009. Since that time I am privileged to have worked on the CMHP Council and I am now responsible for running the Psych 1 and Psych 2 courses. Through my work on the courses and presenting at universities and other events I have been able to witness and play a (small) part in the development of many pharmacists, technicians and other healthcare staff, some of whom now have leading roles in mental health. Seeing those people develop and knowing that I have played a part is incredibly rewarding."
Anita Solanki is Lead Clinical Pharmacist at Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The review of Anita’s recredentialing submission commented on her secondment with Health Education England and her involvement with teaching at Leeds University resulting as being most impressive.
Anita says: “One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is the development of the pharmacy workforce, who in term can support service users and multidisciplinary colleagues to optimise medicines use to enhance patient care.”
Rebecca, Andy and Anita all comment on the confidence that comes with being recognised by peers as having expert knowledge and maintaining a high standard of practice. Being credentialed by the College is an accolade to feel proud of.
