Congratulations to Lynn Haygarth who successfully recredentialed with the College recently.
Lynn is an Independent Mental Health Pharmacist and involved in pharmacy education. She is a supportive colleague - regularly contributing to the CMHP community email group and supporting the work of CMHP Council.
The assessor of Lynn’s portfolio acknowledged this work saying: “I would like to mention Lynn’s clear commitment to education and training, her support for the CMHP and also the commitment to mentoring other pharmacists. Her passion for mental health shines through in every aspect of the portfolio.
We invited Lynn to reflect on what she finds rewarding about her role, and what being credentialed means to her. Here are her responses.
What do I find most rewarding in my role?
Developing expertise as a specialist mental health pharmacist took many years and many different roles. I enjoy seeing others develop and become experts in their chosen field. There are so many opportunities out there and it is great to know that mental health is no longer considered the poor relation of pharmacy. It is rewarding to be able to signpost students and healthcare professionals to exceptional resources developed by CMHP and its growing members.
What does being credentialed by the College mean to me?
Although I no longer work in a substantive role being a credentialed member of the CMHP gives me the credibility to support developing mental health services and pharmacists, be part of expert working groups and ensure mental health pharmacy representation in areas where it has been traditionally lacking. I am able to support the credentialing process and would encourage more of the CMHP members to undergo this process. I can continue to support the Postgraduate Diploma in Psychiatric Pharmacy at Aston University and support the CMHP committee within areas of my expertise.
Our credentialed members are required to go through recredentialing every five years. Credentialed members are full members of the College and can carry the post-nominals MCMHP.
