Congratulations to three of our members who successfully recredentialed with the College recently: Audrey Coker, Rebecca Henry and Azra Sumar have each demonstrated their continuing expertise in the field of mental health pharmacy.
- Audrey Coker is Lead Pharmacist, Clinical Services at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust.
Registrar Roz Gittins and Acting Assistant Registrar Ciara Ni Dhubhlaing praised Audrey for her excellent work in developing medicines management courses.
When asked about her experience, Audrey said: “I find the credentialing process very helpful as it helps to focus my mind to reflect on my practice. It is not difficult to compile once you get going! It is also nice to have my practice recognised!”
- Rebecca Henry is Principal Pharmacist Specialised Services and Training in the Medicines management team at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust.
In her work, Rebecca says: "I find it very rewarding seeing how my actions can make a positive difference to patients and staff and hopefully I inspire others to do the same".
She also commented on the re-credentialing process, saying: “it focused me to consider my role, achievements and future possibilities. I was pleasantly surprised how much I do in my normal day. It just goes to show if I can do it anyone can.”
Roz and Ciara were impressed by Rebecca’s work in education and training.
- Azra Sumar is Lead Pharmacist for Non Medical Prescribing in Mental Health and Learning Disabilities in Leicestershire Partnereship NHS Trust Pharmacy Services. She also a member of the CMHP Council where she serves as Consultations Lead.
At work, Azra finds her pharmacist prescriber clinic the most rewarding part of her role. She says: “I feel privileged for the one-to-one opportunity to discuss medication with service users. I take a holistic approach to agree a plan that's most suitable for each individual. I feel the biggest buzz when I see people recover and "get their lives back"."
Roz and Ciara complimented Azra on her excellent work in shared decision making – a topic she has presented at a number of conferences, including the Clinical Pharmacy Congress in 2017.
Further information about credentialing
Credentialing is our process for assessing members' knowledge and experience; it demonstrates that they are experts in the field of mental health pharmacy. Credentialed members are full members of the College and can carry the post-nominals MCMHP. Members are required to recredential every five years, showing that they have maintained their commitment to continuing professional development and expert levels of practice.
