Congratulations to Amanda Gulbranson who successfully recredentialed with the College recently.
Amanda is Lead Pharmacist for Children and Family Health Devon. The assessor for recredentialing was very positive about her submission saying it demonstrates she continues to be one of the leading mental health pharmacists in the country. She presented strong evidence of advanced work in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and Learning Disabilities.
We invited Amanda to comment on her role, and what being credentialed means to her. She said:
“Every day is a school day when you work as a pharmacist… and the children, young people and their families I support through my role as a CAMHS pharmacist teach me so much and remind me why I am so passionate about what I do. Seeing that you make a positive difference to people’s lives is hugely rewarding. Getting the treatment right is vital at any age, but ensuring that children and young people have a positive experience of healthcare, including medicine if needed, is especially important; including and involving them in shared decision making and aiming to seek assent in situations where consent may still be provided by parents. Sometimes this means getting creative when thinking how to communicate information, but mostly just ensuring that the language we use is right and that we are really listening to their stories.
"I am constantly striving to improve the quality and safety of pharmaceutical care and overall experience for children and young people and their families, and to do this to the best of my abilities I need to continually grow and develop my own knowledge. The CMHP provides specialist professional leadership and support to do just that! Being a part of, and tapping into the wealth of knowledge and experience that the College membership holds is invaluable and, through credentialing, also provides recognition from my peers that I am practising at a high standard - ‘an expert in my field’. That makes me feel very proud!”
Our credentialed members are required to go through recredentialing every five years. Credentialed members are full members of the College and can carry the post-nominals MCMHP.
