CMHP sessions
CMHP is an education partner for the Clinical Pharmacy Congress (CPC). We ensure that there is a mental health component to CPC by proposing suitable speakers and maintaining a presence on the exhibition floor.
Look out for the CMHP sessions:
- Suicide: what pharmacy teams should know, by Hayley Gorton, PhD Student in pharmacoepidemiology / Research Associate - University of Manchester. Friday 12 May, 10.15-11.00, Clinical Leadership Theatre.
Hayley gave an inspiring presentation at our conference last year. If you missed it, this is a great opportunity to hear her talk about suicide and the role pharmacists in suicide prevention. - Shared decision making in mental health: an exploration of tools that support shared decision making, by Azra Sumar, Lead Pharmacist for Non Medical Prescribing in Mental Health and Learning Disabilities - Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust. Saturday 13 May, 15.30-16.15, Clinical Leadership Theatre.
Azra will share her learning from a research study about tools that can support shared decision making in mental health. She will highlight why shared decision making is so important, (especially in psychiatry), and what can organisations do to support it.
Also look out for...
A number of posters have mental health themes. Examples include work on antipsychotics in elderly patients; bridging the gap between mental and physical healthcare; safe prescribing of hypnotics and high dose antipsychotics on a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU); and attitudes of community pharmacists towards dementia care education and training.
