Michael Marven has been awarded the Fellowship of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy in recognition of his significant contribution to the field of mental health pharmacy.
Michael, or “Mick” as he is known affectionately by his friends, has put significant time and energy into developing the pharmacy service at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust where he is Chief Pharmacist. He has also been instrumental in the development of CMHP having served as both Treasurer and President over recent years.
His nomination as Fellow included comments from an employee who said:
“Thanks to Mick our organisation has an excellent clinical pharmacy service that we can be proud of… He has led the way in improving pharmacy services for mental health and has always been willing to share that knowledge and experience with other pharmacy departments.”
A former colleague on CMHP Council added: “[Mick] has made a huge contribution to the CMHP – working tirelessly, behind the scenes as the treasurer for the College and as president, overseeing a period of change and great turmoil. His unassuming nature and diligent work provided a calm and steady pair of hands to manage the finances during his tenure as treasurer and the overall running of the College as president. He has always worked for the good of the College and its members.”
CMHP President Nikki Holmes presented Mick with his Fellowship certificate at the CMHP Awards Ceremony on Saturday.
Mick said: “I feel honoured and privileged to receive fellowship. Thank you to all friends and colleagues in CMHP and the fabulous Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust pharmacy service. I'm very grateful to whoever it was that nominated me.”
