Credentialing gives you recognition for the level you work at; the skills and expertise that that you have developed and put into practice. By defining the required competencies for advanced practitioner, we encourage our members to aim for or surpass these high standards, which in turn will have a positive impact on patient care.
Credentialing also provides employers with reassurance that you have specific competencies in the specialist area of mental health pharmacy.
This is what some of our credentialed members have to say about the benefits of credentialing:
[It] gives me confidence that I am practicing safely and it gives me personal satisfaction to have recognition of my work by my peers. – Stephen Guy, Lead Mental Health Pharmacist at Belfast Health and Social Care TrustBeing credentialed invigorates my endeavours to improve patient care with the backing of highly experienced colleagues. – Ray Gray, Locality Lead Mental Health Pharmacist Wiltshire at Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust
The difference about being credentialed by the CMHP is that I (and my work) have been assessed by experts in the field in which I work – people that I look up to, and I have been judged by my peers to be worthy of this accolade... I am very proud of the status of Member of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy. – Andrew Down, Deputy Chief Pharmacist at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust
As a credentialed member of the college I feel able to continue to use my title of Specialist Pharmacy Advisor - Mental Health. This allows me to have the credibility to continue my work developing mental services, understanding the way unique services work and the respectability within the Profession of Pharmacy. I belong to the group within pharmacy supporting people living with mental health problems to use medicines optimally, to improve their quality of life and I will continue to support and mentor pharmacists to develop their own skills in this way. – Lynn Haygarth, University of Huddersfield
